It has just been 10 years but much has happened to satisfy any yearning of desire or fulfilment that I had going into marriage with my lovely wife. As a bachelor, you go looking for a wife with certain qualities, to fulfill certain expectations and along the way, augment your efforts in accomplishing certain goals you may have. I can honestly tell you that it does not happen that way, particularly for those that believe in God and His grace.
When you pray to God for something, you may not be surprised when He answers but His answer may very well surprise you. Your needs and wants are different from what God needs and wants for you and thank you God that it is so. God took what I thought I wanted and added what He wanted for me and took me to another realm of satisfaction.
Our motto, our creed, our mantra is “Because of Him” and that is true for our journey for all that has happened (yes, both good and bad)and is still happening to us, spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially and etcetera is all because of God in our lives and we give him a thanks, praise and adoration, in Jesus name! AMEN
Raymond
When my sister and cousin told me there was a pageant in town and they were going to enter, we were all so excited because it was going to be a chance to dress up and a chance for me to take a break from my busy life.
Little did I know that information would lead me on the path to the greatest blessing.
Although, I do not remember meeting Raymond during the Ms Nigeria ONN pageant which I later entered and won, I do vividly remember our next meeting. I was a guest speaker at the ONN inauguration the following year. I was having a good time on the dance floor with my sister when I spied a handsome young man dancing towards me.
I was intrigued by his good looks, confidence and the fact the he was totally oblivious to the fact that he really couldn’t dance. As he approached me with a big smile and proudly introduced himself as Ray Amaechi, my heart sank. This was the guy that had been phone stalking me? I didn’t know what to do. Do I walk off the dance floor? Do I be polite and dance with him? My Indignation won over and I have to confess I rudely walked away!
You see, my mom, my aunts and other acquaintances had constantly badgered me over the preceding weeks about this WONDERFUL home town boy who wanted to speak to me as they kept a deaf ear to my insistence that I could find my own boyfriend if I wanted to . Thank you very much!
So, although it wasn’t his fault I was already mad at him.
To cut a Long story short, I apologized for my earlier rudeness, and gentleman that he was, he accepted my apology and made me take a photograph with him to prove that there were no hard feelings.
About a month and 4 voice messages later, we had a dinner date and two weeks later a marriage proposal. Now, ten years and 4 BEAUTIFUL BLESSINGS later I don’t have enough words to thank God for that conversation with my sister and cousin. You see, I not only won a beauty pageant crown. I won a better crown for my heart and for the rest of my life.

Our Blessings
We honestly cannot begin to enumerate our blessings from God, for He has been amazingly gracious unto us. So, we continue to thank Him for all our 4 wonderfully blessed children, all our family members and amazing friends God has surrounded us with, and of course, our church family and Pastors. We are eternally thankful for good health and the mercy and grace of God in all our endeavors and pursuits throughout the years. Although it hasn’t been easy, the LORD HAS SURELY BEEN ON OUR SIDE.
